Following last year’s sell out success, the magical outdoor light trail is returning to Hylands Estate in Chelmsford this winter with even more illuminated installations for all the family to enjoy.
For the fourth consecutive year, Enlightened will transform the landscape of the estate into a unique, mile-long journey of enchantment and illumination throughout November and December. Marvel at the majestic woodland that sparkles whilst being immersed in the magical soundscape. Try your hand at one of the many interactive elements where you can control the installation whilst competing with your fellow visitors and have your camera phone at the ready for the photo opportunity around every corner.
Enlightened 2023 will be the biggest, brightest, and boldest year yet with a trail bursting with even more interactive and immersive elements than ever before along with visitor favourites.

New for 2023: Winter Catering Village
As well as enjoying Enlightened’s enchanting outdoor light trail, all ticket holders will be able to visit for the very first year a delicious new addition to the route – A Winter Catering Village provided by The Deli Hylands.
Enjoy woodfired pizzas from the A&Co pizza van, including their festive favourite Christmas Pizza – including the pigs in blankets and sprouts! Visit their barbeque at the Deli Doghouse for locally sourced sausages from Ingatestone, served in brioche buns with a variety of toppings. Get your cheese fix from the Gondola with classic Raclette dishes, and croque monsieurs
Ice cream isn’t just for summer! Artisan scoops from Saffron Ice Cream will be served, as well as a hot brownie ice cream sundae to keep off the chill.
Stay refreshed at the bar with wine supplied from New Hall Wines, as well as beer, mulled wine and mulled cider.
All this, plus the Doghouse will be open for hot and cold drinks as well as snacks.
